Keshav Kasturi Rangan

Research Interests

Keshav Rangan Kasturi is an SAI Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Notre Dame, working within the research group of Dr. Alexander Dowling. His current research focuses on the development of a digital twin for the Stokes trap, a microfluidic device that enables precise particle manipulation through hydrodynamic forces. This work integrates physics-based modeling of Navier-Stokes equations with physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to simulate particle trajectories and optimize system controllability. Rangan's project utilizes Bayesian optimization to refine device geometry and establishes new metrics for the performance assessment of microfluidic technologies.

Keshav earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University under the supervision of Dr. Helen E. Durand, where his doctoral research centered on the security and control of nonlinear systems with evolving process dynamics. Working in Durand's group, he developed frameworks for integrated cyberattack detection and handling, employing Lyapunov-based economic model predictive control to ensure system resilience and stability. This expertise in control theory and stochastic modeling, including the simulation of Brownian motion, informs his current efforts to integrate high-level programming platforms with experimental validation in chemical engineering.
